Saturday, 21st  March 2015 – the third day of our stay in Kayseri

The day started with workshops in the centre of  education “Kayseri-Melikgazi HALK EGITIMI MERKEZI VE AKSAM SANAT OKULU”. The topic of the workshop was “ Safe use of the Internet in communication” and the leader this day was Mr Aytac Basok ( Mr Aytac visited our school in February 2013 together with other teachers, as part of a programme VETPRO Leonardo da Vinci).

We learned how the government in Turkey supports the development of IT in schools. We were shown the directions and plans of the development of IT for the country, schools and students. What impressed us most, was the programme “Tablet with  access to the  Internet and educational materials for every student”. A tablet with typically educational software. A student uses the tablet only to contact the educational platform, the  school and the teacher. We discussed the dangers resulting from the development of information technology which await a young person and how to shape a young person so that he/she will not lose the  identity in the net.

This day we also had a pleasure to do some sightseeing. We visited an underground city in Talas , 7 km from Kayseri. The place made a great impression on us. We felt like moving back in time. The journey finished with a walk on the main street in Kayseri: Ottomana Street. We admired the architecture of the buildings.
